For Your Information:

KGNR FM was born out of a desire and a vision God gave to a small group of Christians to bring to Grant County a source of daily encouragement and challenge. Life Broadcasting, Inc., a non-profit corporation, was formed in June of 1983 to facilitate the operation of the radio ministry.

We began broadcasting with a "cable station", sending our audio over the local cable TV system, on July 15th, 1983 and continued cable-casting until KGNR FM went on the air, January 22, 1993, broadcasting 36 hours a week with 1500 watts of power. Our hours were the minimum required by the Federal Communications Commission. We began, soon after we signed on, to raise the necessary funds to purchase the equipment needed to increase the broadcast hours to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Monday, January 6th, 1997 was the day KGNR began broadcasting 24/7.

We built a translator in the Prairie City area in 1994 in order to cover Prairie City better. There are at least three other translators on the drawing board to get our signal in to towns like Seneca, Long Creek, and the Dayville area.

Over the years we have had the privilege to trained many young people, and older folks alike, to be volunteer announcers and Disk Jockeys. It would be very difficult to continue the day to day operations without our volunteers.

Programming consists of about a 50/50 split between music and Bible teaching/Talk. The major style of music is Contemporary Praise and Worship with some Adult Contemporary music mixed in. We also air 2 music shows on the weekend geared toward the teenage listener. We feature such Bible teachers as; Chuck Swindoll, Chuck Smith, John MacArthur, Charles Stanley and Talk shows such as Money Matters, and The Bible Answer Man.

The offices and studios are located in John Day, Oregon. We have a great "down town" location. It is nice to be among the businesses down town. We were able to purchase a suitable building to house the studios and office in 1988.

Support for the ministry comes directly from individuals and churches in our county who see the value of Christian radio in the life of the Church and in their individual lives. KGNR is not a substitute for personal prayer, devotion, Bible study, or Church attendance. However, we see the station as a resource for the Churches and individuals to enhance their walk with the Lord on a day to day basis. Our scriptural motto is found in Ephesians 4:11-13;

"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, and Christian radio (my addition), for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ."

Praise God for the things He has done, is doing and will do in the lives of the listeners of KGNR FM.

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."
(Jude 24 and 25)

We have, over the last year, seen God continue to use the radio ministry in the lives of our listeners. Listeners frequently tell us how a certain program or song touched them in some way. It is always encouraging to us to hear how God is using the radio station. May God receive all glory and honor for any fruit that may arise from the ministry at KGNR FM.
